Robotech is authorized to provide a comprehensive CAD & BIM Career Development Training Program sponsored by NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and approved by the Department of Education, for eligible unemployed architects, engineers, contractors, interior designers, space planners, draftspersons and facility management professionals. Candidates should contact Robotech for guidance on the qualification process at the NJ One-Stop Career Centers. Time invested to qualify will surely prove to be well worth the reward.

Program description:

Robotech’s CAD & BIM Training Program is designed for AEC professionals who want to improve their CAD & BIM design and modeling skills. The purpose of the program is helping NJ displaced workers re-enter the workforce. The program consists of 200 hours of hands-on CAD & BIM  training during 10 week period. The courses focus on AutoCAD and Revit Architecture, the main Autodesk applications for building design and modeling. The program includes class and lab work with real-life exercises to gain experience with the way the software is used in the industry. Upon completion, students take the relevant Autodesk certification tests, which add credentials to their resume, and results are shared with the Department of Labor & Workforce Development as a benchmark for success. At this last phase, Robotech staff helps graduates to refine their resume and start their job search.

Mechanical Case Study—McKinstry

A national leader in designing, building, operating, and maintaining high-performing properties like the Seattle Life Sciences Building, McKinstry needed a solution for improving efficiency in its earned value tracking process. On the complicated Life Sciences Building project, the company was using a 2-D-based drawing solution that it would manually mark up, conducting the takeoff process in the office and causing inaccurate results. The job’s complexity also created hurdles in comparing project data and mapping the numbers against the budget, as different teams were using different systems (i.e., measuring in pounds as well as linear feet).

Halfway through the project, McKinstry implemented the connected construction software Assemble to solve for these challenges by streamlining its data collection process and thus improving the project’s accuracy. Assemble allowed McKinstry’s project team to track the installation process in the metric of its choice, then instantly compare this to the estimate. Additionally, the McKinstry team had insight into whether the budget was spot on, heavy, or running lean, keeping the project on track. As a result, McKinstry was able to cut the time it spent on earned value tracking in half, going from spending eight hours per week to four hours per week on the process, and making the project more efficient.
